MIRI: There is no additional charge to replace yellow gas cylinders with red ones through Maju Gas Supply Sdn Bhd or PetrosNiaga authorised dealers here.
Consumers only need to pay RM26.60 for gas replenishment, the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pujut branch, said in a press conference here Wednesday.
It said Maju Gas Supply Sdn Bhd is currently the only authorised premium dealer providing the service of replacing yellow gas cylinders with red ones.

The names of PetrosNiaga’s authorised dealers in Miri are as follows:
Piasau Gas Sdn Bhd (Kuala Baram); Syarikat Pusakabumi (Taman Tunku) and United Gas Trading (Eastwood Valley).
Consumers have thus been urged to avoid approaching non-PetrosNiaga authorised suppliers to request cylinder replacements.
The press conference was called following public confusion over the replacement of gas cylinders.
SUPP Pujut the problem arose during the transitional period when PetrosNiaga was replacing yellow gas cylinders with red ones, causing pressure on the dealers’ costs and resulting in a shortage of red gas cylinders in the market.
After negotiations between PetrosNiaga and the dealers, the issue was resolved on December 19 (Tuesday).
It is understood that PetrosNiaga will bear the cost of replacing the gas cylinders, it said.
Consequently all authorised dealers under PetrosNiaga have been asked to fully cooperate in replacing the public’s yellow gas cylinders.
Authorised suppliers in the outskirts of Miri are Chop Hock Kiat (Bakong); Hock Sim Heng (Sibuti); Meroni Sdn Bhd (Niah); Thien Tze Loy Enterprises Sdn Bhd (Niah) and Syarikat Usaha Bumiputera (Marudi).
If the public finds any PetrosNiaga authorised dealers charging additional fees or refusing to replace yellow gas cylinders, they can report it to Maju Gas or the PetrosNiaga complaint hotline at 1300 882 122.
In addition, in order to address the public’s inconvenience in replacing gas cylinders, SUPP Pujut has decided to provide a service with the cooperation of Maju Gas at SUPP Pujut office five-foot way starting on Dec 22 (Friday).
