No arrests yet in Molotov cocktail attack

KUCHING: Police are yet to make any arrests in connection with the Molotov cocktail incident at the KK Mart in Satok here on Mar 31.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed that the case is still under investigation.

“So far, no arrests have been made and efforts are still ongoing to identify the suspect involved,” he told New Sarawak Tribune briefly.

Last Sunday, police received a report from a KK Mart employee regarding a Molotov cocktail being hurled at the store on Jalan Satok.

The incident caused several boxes containing beverages on the five-foot way in front of the store to catch fire.

According to the police, the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.

Anyone with information regarding the case are urged to channel them to investigating officer Sgt Ceremona Nasim at 013-8554168 or to the nearest police station.

This incident marks the third Molotov cocktail attack on KK Mart stores in the country. The first attack occurred in Bidor, Perak, followed by another one in Kuantan, Pahang.

In view of this, police are advising the public not to take matters into their own hands and to allow the existing legal process to be taken.
