The Sessions Court here on today (Jan 12) handed down a 40-year prison sentence and 21 strokes of the cane to a paedophile.

Alladin Lanim, 43, pleaded guilty to three charges involving the production of pornographic videos and pictures with his phone, targeting a 13-year-old boy five years ago.

He admitted guilt to all three charges, each read by an interpreter before Judge Iris Awen Jon.

The first charge, under Section 5 of the Offenses Against Children Act 2017, accused him of producing child pornography in the form of videos and photos from his phone.

Additionally, he faced a charge under Section 6 of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 for preparing child pornography with his phone.

The third charge, under Section 7 of the Offenses Against Children Act 2017, accused him of using a 13-year-old boy as part of preparations to commit pornography with the same phone.

The offenses occurred in a residential quarters at a palm oil plantation in Lundu between Aug 13, 2018, and Dec 6, 2020.

Judge Iris sentenced Alladin to 22 years in prison and 12 strokes of the cane for the first charge.
For the second charge, he received a five-year sentence and three strokes of the cane.

The third charge led to a 13-year prison term and eight strokes of the cane. Judge Iris ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, starting from today.

According to the case details, Alladin was arrested on July 5, 2021, for allegedly possessing child pornography on his phone.

Subsequent investigations revealed that he possessed pornographic photos and videos of the victim, recorded by Alladin himself.

Additionally, he allowed the victim to use his phone to play online games while recording explicit videos of himself performing oral sex on the boy.

The accused produced a total of 7,371 photos and 2,541 pornographic videos involving the victim and other children.

DPP Ruvinasini Pandian prosecuted the case, and Investigating Officer Sgt Rahim Landarian led the investigation.

For the record, Alladin faces additional charges in the future for similar offenses against other child victims. The latest sentence is part of existing charges.

Alladin gained international notoriety as a wanted paedophile, listed among the world’s top 10 offenders in criminal exploitation of children on the internet in 2019.

He documented his crimes on the dark web, detailing offenses against children aged two to 16 since 2007, with over 1,000 images and videos depicting sexual abuse.

Alladin’s arrest, in August 2020, resulted from collaborative efforts by Australian authorities, including investigators from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Queensland Police, and the Australian Transaction Analysis and Reporting Centre (AUSTRAC).

Extensive investigations involving the Royal Malaysian Police, United States Homeland Security, and AFP officers based in Kuala Lumpur were instrumental in tracking down the perpetrator’s identity.
