One new community cluster declared in Sarawak

KUCHING: One new community cluster was declared in the state, according to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Sunday (Sept 26).

The committee, in its daily statement, said that the cluster, known as the Sungai Poh cluster in Limbang, involved residents of a longhouse in the Sungai Poh area, Nanga Medamit, Limbang.

The cluster saw 44 positive cases including the index case and three negative cases out of 47 people screened while 30 new cases were reported.

“All Covid-19 positive cases were admitted to the nearby hospital and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) in the Limbang district for isolation and further treatment,” it said.

The SDMC also announced the end of eight clusters, involving six clusters in Kuching, namely, the Kampung Quop cluster, the Kampung Git cluster, the Kampung Bintawa Hilir cluster, the Kampung Haji Baki cluster,the Kampung Bintawa Ulu cluster and the Kampung Pulo Ulu cluster.

The other two clusters were the Jalan Kemena Industries Estate 38 cluster in Bintulu and the Jalan Lembah Hijau cluster in Miri as no new cases were detected in the last 28 days.

“Six out of the 120 active clusters in the state recorded a total of 105 new cases while the other 114 clusters did not record any cases,” said the SDMC.
