MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) granted financial assistance to 84 students from 41 selected schools in Sarawak under its Student Adoption Programme (SAP) 2021/2022 corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

SOP had travelled across different regions such as Lambir, Niah, Suai, Marudi, Sebauh, Sungai Asap, and Balingian to visit the 41 participating schools and made the handovers.

“The SAP is part of our CSR initiatives to provide financial support on educational needs to underprivileged children from primary and secondary schools within the vicinity of the Group’s operations.

“A total of 84 students in need from low-income families received a one-off financial assistance, new school bags and stationaries.

“For the record, we have granted a total of 572 students for the same CSR programme since 2016,” it said in a statement yesterday.

SOP stated that it does not only focus on oil palm business but also aims to grow together with local communities by helping them through various CSR initiatives in education outreach.
