KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 21 new positive Covid-19 cases today (Tuesday), including a one-year- old toddler, bringing the total number in the state to 927.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of these cases, 12 were reported in Kuching, three in Lundu, three in Miri and three in Lawas.

Ten new cases came from the Green Hill Cluster. Six cases had social contacts with Case 877   which was reported on Oct 31.

Two of the six cases showed signs and symptoms of coughing and fever on Oct 31 and Nov 1.

All six cases underwent Covid-19 screening at a government health facility on Nov 1 and the results came out positive the following day.

Another two new cases in Green Hill Cluster were found through contact tracing. They involved two local individuals — a man and a woman — who had close contacts with Case 832 and Case 876 respectively but did not show any signs and symptoms of the disease.

The two cases were screened on Nov 1 and their results came back positive on the same day, bringing the total number of positive cases from the Green Hill Cluster to 62.

Meanwhile, another three new cases came from the Wisma Saberkas Cluster and all were detected via Active Case Detection (ACD) on Nov 2.

They were employees of an electronic company in the building and did not show any signs or symptoms of the disease. Contact tracings were carried out after that.

This brings the total number of positive cases recorded under the Wisma Saberkas Cluster including the index case to 11.

SDMC stated that one new case, categorised as an imported case, was detected through screening after returning from risk areas.

The case is a local man who has a history of travelling to Selangor. On arrival at Kuching International Airport on Oct 22, he was directed to undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine; he underwent the first rT-PCR screening on the same day and the result came out negative.

On Oct 31, he underwent a second screening test and was found positive on Nov 2. He did not show any signs and symptoms and has been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.

In Miri, two cases were recorded positive after being traced from the Greenhill Cluster. Both cases were social contacts of Case 829 which was detected on Oct 28.

On Oct 31, the family underwent rT-PCR screening and were found to be Covid-19 positive on Nov 2 although they did not show signs and symptoms of the disease.

They were admitted to Miri Hospital and were consequentially categorised as imported cases.
