KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received a courtesy call from Orang Ulu National Association (Ouna) president Datuk Abu Bakar Abdullah.

The visit was to invite Taib as a guest of honour to the Baram Memorial Forts and Historic Town Ceremony, which is expected to take place in Long Lama district this year.

The aim of the ceremony is to appreciate the service and contribution of Taib in Baram district, as well as to enhance focus on the heritage of Baram’s forts and historic towns, which are increasingly forgotten due to the current development in the district.

Also present were Telang Usan district officer Baru Tai, Telang Usan Chinese community leader Penghulu Desmond Yap Chen Siang and Long Lama Chinese community leader Kapitan Yeo Kee Siang.
