Orphans, senior citizens in Sri Aman given Aidilfitri goodies

SIMANGGANG: Orphans and senior citizens received Hari Raya Aidilfitri goodies, including ‘duit raya’ in the Majlis Ziarah Ukas@Community programme here.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also the Simanggang assemblyman, officiated at the programme on Tuesday (April 26).

Also present was Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

They attended a breaking of fast do together with needy groups as well as special needs groups from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Datuk Ajibah Abol (RKKDAA) Sri Aman and Rumah Seri Kenangan (RSK) Sibu.

In his official Facebook page on Thursday (April 28), he expressed his thanks to the organisers. “It has been a long time since such a programme was organised.”

“Today, we celebrate these special groups in conjunction with the month of Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

“It is hoped that through this programme, we can bring cheer to the needy. They deserved to be happy,” he added.

Sri Aman Social Welfare Department officer Vivien Engkiong, RSK Sibu principal Nyambar Ginda, RKKDAA principal Azman Ronnie, Sri Aman District Council secretary Tay Guan Huat, Temenggong Kueh Aik Seng, Sarawak Public Communications Unit director Samat Junai, deputy Sri Aman Resident Elvis Didit, Sri Aman District officer Mohd Ashree Wee and village chiefs also attended.
