Over 100 registered under PAWE at Senior Citizens Day bash in Miri

MIRI: Miri-level Senior Citizens Day celebration which was held on Saturday at the Senior Citizen Activity Centre (PAWE) in Krokop here was a day full of interactive events.

The event was launched by Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus.

More than 100 senior citizens registered under the centre attended the occasion.

Among the highlight of the programme was the ‘Juh, Ngesor Bakat Kitak’ (Let’s show your talent) via senior got talent, preparing the kampung delicacies and zumba exercise.

“We encourage our senior citizens to stay active, healthy and socially engaged,” she said.

For the record, PAWE Miri has a total of 14,310 senior citizens registered under the centre.

In PAWE Sibuti, a total of 380 senior citizens are registered with the centre since its establishment in 2019.

“Statewide, we have 13 PAWE and we are planning to establish PAWE centres in each constituencies here,” she added.
