BINTULU: Over 10,000 people flooded the Lapangan Terbang Bintulu Lama compound for the state-level Malaysia Day celebration this evening.

The performances in conjunction with the celebration started from 6:45pm onwards and the crowds were entertained with special performances by various local artists such as Datuk M. Nasir, Andi Bernadee, Ramles Walter, Florence Lo, Claudia Geres, Safar Ghafar, Sazia Selir and Max Kueh.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib was in attendance to officiate at the celebration.

He was greeted by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who had arrived earlier.

Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and other dignitaries.
