BINTULU: Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai handed out Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM126,000 to 11  longhouse village development and security committees (JKKKs) and one Parent-Teacher Association in Bawan, Kakus constituency.

During a cerenomy at the Kilan longhouse, Begeri, Jalan Selangau-Bintulu, Sikie reiterated the importance of JKKKs and longhouse chiefs to be transparent with the funds given and used wisely.

“For longhouse JKKKs yet to receive their MRP grants, please be patient as the funds will be given in phases…once the cheques are ready, they will be delivered to you.”

On another note, he urged longhouse folk not to be swayed by misinformation and fake news about Covid-19 vaccines.

“Such fake news and rumours being spread by irresponsible individuals are meant to scare and raise doubts among rural folk about the vaccines…the rumours are untrue.”
