TATAU: A total of 23 Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheques worth RM317,000 has been distributed to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and organisations in Kakus constituency.

The cheques were presented by Native Laws and Customs assistant minister Datuk John Sikie Tayai during a handing over ceremony held at the district office here yesterday.

Sikie, who is also the Kakus assemblyman, revealed that over RM3 million allocation for MRP had been distributed this year.

“In addition, a total of RM5 million was allocated for the implementation of Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) throughout the year.

“As the constituency covers the area of Jalan Bukut/Ladang 4, Anap, Kakus and Sg Arip with about 400 longhouses, the distribution was done in stages and according to the priority level,” he said.

He added that the RTP projects have benefitted the longhouse residents such as upgrading of roads and levelling of new longhouses.

Also present at the ceremony were Tatau District Administration Officer Calvin Ligong Bujang, Pemanca Gerosen Jubin, Penghulu Alister Digat, Penghulu Lubon Kinchang and Penghulu Lim Tcia Hong.
