BINTULU: The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Branch here has disbursed payments totalling over RM6.72 million for the period from January to December this year, involving 1,384 cases of various benefit categories.

SOCSO Bintulu Office manager, Jimmy Hendrick Kijon, stated that the highest payment pertained to contributors for permanent disability benefits, amounting to RM4.3 million, followed by Temporary Disability Benefits (HUS) at RM1.64 million and Funeral Management Benefits (FPM) at RM0.404 million.

“The most beneficiaries fall under the HUS category, with 841 contributors, followed by 212 dependents for FPM and 125 dependents for funeral benefits,” he said.

He made these remarks during a brief ceremony for the disbursement of SOCSO benefits here in conjunction with Christmas 2023 on Wednesday.

Additionally, Jimmy advised employers to register and contribute for each of their employees with SOCSO so that the agency can assist workers in the event of death, accident, illness, or job termination.

Furthermore, he emphasised that SOCSO takes a serious view of employers who fail to register and contribute for their employees.

“There is no excuse for claiming ignorance about the need to register and contribute with SOCSO,” he added.
