Chong’s Stampin Service Centre rewards high-achievers of STPM 2022 during a ceremony held at the DAP Kuching office.

KUCHING: Sarawak DAP has given a total of RM70,700 as rewards to high-achieving students from the STPM 2022 batch in the Stampin constituency.

Sarawak DAP chairman and Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen said that this money comes from his annual allocation as an MP.

“To me, there’s nothing better than recognising these students for their hard work and good results in the STPM exams. The happiness and excitement of the students filled the air during the rewards ceremony at the DAP Kuching office this morning,” Chong said in a statement today.

He said that this reward is a way to motivate the students and provide some financial assistance for their further education.

This is the second year that the Stampin Parliament Service Centre has initiated such a rewards programme.

“This is in line with my belief that the allocation is most effectively used for educational purposes,” he added.

Chong, who is also the Padungan assemblyman, pointed out that the STPM is known to be a challenging exam.

Thus, he strongly believed that the students who received the rewards truly deserve them.

He added that excelling in the STPM will make their future university exams feel much easier. However, he advised them not to become complacent and to keep working hard.

Besides the STPM rewards programme, the service centre also provides other initiatives to help students from low-income families pursue higher education.
