MUKAH:  A bird chirping competition  at Pehin Setia Raja Square here yesterday received an overwhelming response from the public.

It  attracted 357 bird owners and their birds namely, 137 from Bintulu Division, Sri Aman (42), Sibu (30), Kuching (10), Miri (10) and  host Mukah (128)

The competition  was organised by Mukah Division Bird Chirping Organisation in collaboration with the  Mukah District Office.

It was divided into several categories  namely, Murni Batu Kepala Hitam A Class which was participated by 75 birds, Murni Batu Kepala Hitam  B Class (75 birds), Murai Kampung A  Class (42 birds), Murai Kampung B Class (55 birds), Lovebird (28 birds),  Serindit (55 birds) and Kenari (36 birds).

Seen at the event  which kicked off with the registration of the bird owners and their birds at 7am were Mukah Parliament Youth Organisation chairman Royston Valentine, organising chairman Kamal Sirat and   Kapitan Tay Aik Seng.

The judges  for the inaugural bird chirping competition were specially flown in from Sambas Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
