KUCHING: The Padawan Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) is set to blaze a trail with the ‘Embrace Market’ this weekend, an event that not only celebrates International Women’s Day but also champions empowerment for women of all ages.

According to a press statement yesterday (Mar 7), the dynamic initiative curated by organising chairwoman Martiana Chia and her project committee team, unfolds on Level 1 of Green Heights Mall, and supporting the event’s initiative is a hashtag, #InspireInclusion2024.

More than just a marketplace, this three-day extravaganza kicks off on Friday (March 8), with an opening ceremony scheduled on Saturday (March 9), featuring Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap as the officiating guest.

“This Embrace Market transcends conventional boundaries. It’s a pulsating community that offers physical, mental, and communal support, forging profound connections, celebrating inclusivity, and unleashing boundless opportunities,” said Chia.

Designed not only for women but also for families, children, and the youth, the core programme boasts a vibrant bazaar showcasing handmade products and immersive, hands-on demonstrations.

Every facet of the ‘Embrace Market’ is meticulously curated to ensure a strong purpose, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Beyond the market hustle, attendees can partake in impactful activities, including free health screenings by Mana Pharmacy for the initial 50 visitors daily, a thought-provoking session with the Sarawak Women For Women Society (SWWS) on ‘Overcoming Discrimination Need For Gender Equality,’ and engaging workshops ranging from beads jewelry-making by Sangon & Co to bouquet and wax seal crafting by Hana Studio.

In addition, an intriguing ‘Be A Tattoo Artist Experience’ by Space Studio and a creative children’s crafting session by Polygrow add to the diverse lineup.

Visitors at the event will also see entertainment extravaganzas by local talents Steff Fleur, KAPRICE, and Pam & Nigel.

For the record, to support local businesses, pamphlet vouchers featuring 26 brands will be distributed among the community over the three days.
