KUCHING: The State Unity Action Committee has formulated several programmes to be included in the national blueprint action plan.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah revealed this after chairing the first meeting of the committee here today.

She said the implementation of the programmes was necessary to boost unity among Sarawakians, especially youth and children.

“In today’s meeting, we obtained a lot of inputs to further strengthen unity in Sarawak.

“From our discussion, we have come out with a list of programmes to be implemented not only in schools but also  pre-schools,” she told a press conference  at the Department of National Unity and Integration office here at Sultan Iskandar Building in Jalan Simpang Tiga today.

Fatimah said among the proposals that were agreed upon were   38 Community Solidarity Randau Sessions  throughout Sarawak and the Student Integration Plan for Unity (RIMUP) programme which would begin next year.

“Most of these programmes will be focusing on the involvement of the young generation. We also suggest Rukun Negara pledge sessions for students and pre-school children during the school assemblies.

Fatimah explained that her ministry would also hold a people’s feedback session programme on the people’s unity action plan at the Sarawak Foundation Hall on Tuesday.

She advised Sarawakians to be careful and sensitive in their social media posts.

“I urge all Sarawakians to think carefully before saying things that can threaten our unity and harmony,” she said.
