PUTRAJAYA: PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan was called up to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here today to assist the commission’s investigation on an allegation that the party had received RM90 million suspected to be money from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) state investment fund.

He arrived there at about 9.20 am and left about 1.50 pm.

Met by reporters after giving his statement, Takiyuddin said it pertained to an allegation that he was among 10 PAS leaders to receive the money.

“I was also asked on a claim by (Sarawak Report editor) Rewcastle-Brown that I have a luxury motorcycle and a few cars purportedly bought with the money. I have explained everything,” he added.

When asked whether any more PAS leaders would be called, Takiyuddin said PAS would extend its cooperation in the investigation and its leaders who were named in the allegation would present themselves, if required by MACC.

Prior to this, several people had been called up by MACC in connection with the case, including Bachok Member of Parliament Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, former PAS deputy president Datuk Dr Nasharudin Mat Isa and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Datuk Husam Musa.

The issue of PAS receiving money from UMNO resurfaced when PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang decided on Feb 1 to finalise the out-of-court settlement by withdrawing his suit against Sarawak Report (SR) editor, Clare Rewcastle Brown, concerning the article which contained the allegation.

On PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claim that he has documents on bank transactions of RM1.4 million paid by PAS to Rewcastle-Brown, Takiyuddin said PAS had documents to prove otherwise. –Bernama
