Passenger arrested for touching female driver’s thigh

MIRI: Police on Monday (Nov 29) afternoon detained a man for inappropriately touching a female e-hailing driver.

Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the incident reportedly happened inside a car driven by the 29 year-old complainant on Wednesday morning (Nov 24).

That morning, she drove to Kampung Lopeng at about 8 o’clock to pick up the 24-year-old suspect. His destination was an area near Yu Lan Plaza.

While inside the car, the suspect suddenly put his right hand on the woman’s thigh.

She glared at him until he eventually removed his hand.

When he arrived at his destination, the suspect threw cash amounting to RM4 onto the back seat of the car and walked away.

He was supposed to pay RM12 for his ride.

The female driver subsequently lodged a police report over the incident.

Acting on the report, a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the suspect at a house in Senadin around noon today (Nov 29). He is being detained at the Miri Central Police station (CPS) for questioning.
