Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) President Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak is garnering recognition from many countries across the globe particularly on its green energy ability.

In pointing this out, he said it is PBB that has paved the way in emphasising on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).

“PBB is no longer a kampung party. It is taking a step ahead to be in sync with the developments occurring around the world,” he said.

The Premier of Sarawak was speaking at the opening of the PBB 15th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

Abang Johari said he has received many invitations to speak in forums overseas to share about the developments occurring in Sarawak.

“It was the Sarawak Premier that took the world stage to deliver an address. I do not wish to boast, but the world has recognised the potential of Sarawak in Malaysia,” he said.

He said there are many investors who are seeking to invest in the state, adding that Germans, Koreans, and Belgians recently visited to discuss energy matters.

“The Koreans were interested in CCUS, so I said ‘why not, we will study the matter’. This could be another source of revenue for Sarawak and it could be more than the amount generated from State Sales Tax (SST),” he added.
