SIBU: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) will field its Secretary-General Priscilla Lau in the Lanang parliamentary seat at the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

The announcement was made by its President, Voon Lee Shan in a press conference held here yesterday (Sept 10).

“I hope that every voter in the Lanang constituency will support her, and vote for her because only PBK, our local party can save Sarawak. We want to restore Negara Sarawak,” said Voon.

Meanwhile, Lau assured voters that she would speak up for the people, in Parliament, especially concerning the autonomy rights of the Sarawakians.

“Put your trust in me and I will speak up daringly in Parliament,” she said. Asked whether PBK’s participation in the election will split opposition votes, Lau said that would not be the case if opposition supporters switched their votes to PBK.

“PBK had already cooperated with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and it was agreed that where PSB candidates contest, PBK supporters will support PSB candidates and vice versa.

“A survey conducted after the last state election concluded that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate who won the seat did not garner extra votes.

“Their votes remained the same compared to the previous state election and it was because of the opposition split votes that helped the GPS candidate win,” she said.

“DAP was given so many chances when their candidates were elected in both the Lanang and Sibu seats in the past few elections.
“Unfortunately, their candidates do not have the freedom to express their opinions as all their actions will be monitored and controlled by their Malaya-based party,” she said.
