KUCHING: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) sacked its president-designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin yesterday (Dec 27).

The party’s disciplinary committee said the memberships of 10 others were also terminated as they failed to respond to the show-cause letters issued to them earlier this month.

According to a FMT report, the other leaders sacked were vice president Dr Sathiskumar, vice president 1 Rahimah Majid, vice president 3 Muhammad Saiful Bahari Sahari, party secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad, information chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid and Youth chief Na’im Brundage.

Also sacked were supreme council member Ab Aziz Ab Kadir, Datuk Roger Tan Seng Huat and Albakri Salim.

However, Haniza Mohamed Talha and Dr Daroyah Alwi were not sacked but removed as party deputy president 1 and women’s chief respectively.

News portal Malaysiakini quoted PBM president Datuk Larry Sng as saying that Haniza and Daroyah were not given the boot because the party did not want to encourage party hopping.

Both are Selangor assemblypersons.

Sng suspended Zuraida, the former plantation industries and commodities minister and ex-Ampang MP, and 12 other supreme council members in October, after they were alleged to have “caused disturbance” within the party and its leadership.
