KUCHING: Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar yesterday clarified that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have no jurisdiction to investigate this case as the death occurred on foreign soil.

“As such, we cannot request the hospital to conduct the post mortem under such circumstances,” said Dev. He was referring to the case of the late Chung Soon Teck who was shot dead in Entikong, Indonesia.

In a local daily yesterday, a family member of the deceased was quoted as saying that no post mortem was conducted on the body as approval had not been received from the police. He further added that the hospital had not received permission from the police to conduct a post mortem.

“The police would like to clear up the misconception or perception that the police have failed or refused to allow the post mortem to be conducted on the deceased.

“We are advising the family members to engage a counsel to file an application at the High Court seeking a court order to that effect.
