SIBU: A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident while crossing the road at Jalan Oya Lorong 31 on Tuesday night (Mar 14).
Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the unidentified victim was crossing the road around 11.35 pm when he was hit by an unknown vehicle.
“As a result, the victim believed to be in his 30s sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“The body was then taken to Sibu Hospital for post-mortem,” he said.
Zulkipli added that the victim is believed to be a homeless individual as there was no identity document on him.
The family of the victim and members of the public who might have any information on him are urged to come forward and contact the investigating officer Insp Mohd Salman Zulfitri Sheekandar at 013-9999269.
The case is being investigated under Section 4 1(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
