KUCHING: Malaysia Pepper Board (MPB) is running out of storage space and has stopped buying pepper for now.

MPB in a statement said all its ware- houses nationwide are full.

“Our staff are currently running the processing facilities to the maximum out- put with extra shifts,” the board said.

It however assured the current measure is temporary “for one to two weeks with effect from today (July 26)”.

“We will resume buying on August 8 and will buy at the same prices we last bought,” it said.

MPB urges pepper farmers to under- stand its predicament and stay calm as it is trying its best to process all the stocks received before it can be released and sold to the market. Pepper farms are currently at the height of the harvesting season, which is always a good sign for the national pep- per industry.

At present MPB is buying white pep- per grade 1 at RM15.60/kg, black pepper grade 1 at RM8.90/kg, LBE black special at RM9.80/kg, LBE white FAQ at RM16.20/ kg and LBE creamy white pepper at RM19.90/kg.
