MUKAH: The game of petanque has started making its presence at Politeknik Mukah (PMU), here.

Recently, a total of 42 PMU management, academic and non-academic staff attended a petanque clinic held at the polytechnic.

It was organised by PMU Sports Recreation Club (Kesures); Sports, Co-curriculum and Culture Department (JSKK) and Sarawak Petanque Association (Pepsar).

Programme director Mohd Rizal Khatib said the clinic was aimed at introducing petanque to PMU staff with guidance from Pepsar.

Meanwhile, PMU director Dullah Muluk said petanque had the potential of becoming a popular sports among the staff as the polytechnic had built eight new petanque courts.

“We also can introduce petanque to the public and hopefully can organise games with them too at our courts here, while fostering rapport with them,” he said.

The clinic was conducted by Pepsar  president Othman Mat, honorary secretary Janudin Ab Rahman and Sarawak Sukma chief coach Ahmad Saberi Yusof.

A competition involving all the participants was also held in conjunction with the clinic.
