KUCHING: Petronesa Sdn Bhd gave out RM443,300 in business tithes (zakat) and RM2.022 million in dividends to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) and Yayasan Sarawak, respectively.

Petronesa Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki was present to hand over the mock cheques at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, yesterday.

He presented the business tithes mock cheque to TBS General Manager Datuk Abang Mohammad Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie and the dividends mock cheque to Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present at the presentation of both mock cheques.

During the event, Abang Johari and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, gave ‘duit raya’ to 241 recipients, including the Yayasan Sarawak staff children as well as Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (YAKIN) underprivileged students.

He also performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers with other guests, led by state chief Imam Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit, State Education Director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad along with other distinguished guests.
