MIRI: Miri mayor Adam Yii has revealed the upcoming Miri May Festival 2024, coinciding with the 19th Miri City Day celebration.

In his statement, Yii extended an invitation to the Miri community, which includes government agencies, non-governmental organisations, local community associations, and corporate bodies.

He urged them to contribute by introducing food and beverage (F&B) menus and organising events and activities in May 2024, aimed at promoting Miri as a “Green, Smart, And Most Livable International Resort City”.

“The Miri City Council will compile the received F&B menus and events into the Miri May Fest Menu and Calendar of Events for the year 2024.

“The production of the Menu and Calendar of Events will commence in December 2023, with subsequent monthly updates leading up to Miri May Fest 2024.”

Yii noted that the objective is to enhance awareness and significance of Miri City Day within the Miri community, as well as to attract tourists, particularly those from abroad, to visit Miri in May 2024.

“Priority will be given to events aligning with the objectives of the anniversary celebration,” he explained.

This includes events open to public participation, cultural and arts activities, sports events, youth-oriented activities, musical and dance performances, charity food fairs, trade fairs, events open to international teams/participants, and those that align with the city’s goals, especially those drawing large crowds and with the potential to attract tourists.

“However, we reserve the right to accept or reject any appropriate or inappropriate F&B menus and events for inclusion in the Calendar of Events. If accepted, they will be featured in the Miri May Fest 2024 Logo.”

Yii added that interested parties are requested to return the form, including particulars of the menu and events, to the Public Relations Section at Level 5, Miri City Hall, on or before Jan 31, 2024, for review.
