KUCHING: Pantai Damai constituency now has an additional 17,000 new voters, said its assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

He said from the total there are 7,000 young voters aged 18 to 21 while the remaining are first time voters, aged 30 years or more, who have never registered before.

“Majority of the voters are children of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members, therefore for sure they will show their support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

“In the last state election, we only have about 20,000 voters and with these additional 17, 000 the total voters in Pantai Damai are 37,000 voters,” he said during a press conference after GPS-PBB N.4 Pantai Damai GE15 Preparation Seminar at Grand Margherita Hotel, here yesterday.

Earlier he said, for the upcoming election it will see many young voters participate not only during the voting days but also during the election machinery preparation activities.
