KOTA SAMARAHAN: The International Conference on Education Research and Innovation (iCERI) 2023, serves as a platform to enhance the competencies of educators through research activities.

Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak permanent secretary Datuk Azmi Bujang emphasised that this conference marks a significant shift in the paradigm of research and innovative educational practices.

“I anticipate that numerous innovations of this nature will be presented throughout the conference, including evidence of their effectiveness for further improvements.

“Research and innovation can also support teachers in transitioning from a top-down delivery model to a facilitative role.

“I want to emphasise that engaging in educational research and innovation is not merely a bonus; it enables learners of all ages to progress, contribute to society, and navigate ever-evolving challenges.”

Azmi made these remarks during the closing ceremony of iCERI 2023, held at the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Tun Abdul Razak Campus here yesteday (Nov 1).

On the same note, he asserted that the learning experience will be customised for individual students based on a deeper understanding of their needs and differences.

However, he said, this understanding comes from continuous research, as each generation differs from the one before it.

iCERI 2023, which took place over two days from Oct 31 to Nov 1, was officiated by minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The conference was attended by around 150 participants, including teachers, education officials, students, and guest speakers from the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
