Police chief satisfied with SOP compliance level

KUCHING: The standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance level among Sarawakians is at 98 percent.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail revealed that a total of 400 monitoring teams have been formed to conduct inspections at public places and businesses.

“Yesterday (May 31), the teams conducted 3,132 inspections and the compliance level so far, is at 98 percent satisfactory.

“In addition, only 18 compounds were issued to errant individuals who had violated the movement control order (MCO) SOPs,” he said.

Meanwhile, police have ordered 115 motorists to turn back after they were found not having any inter-district travel permits at 49 designated roadblocks.

So far, the number of vehicles ordered to turn back since May 29, stands at 340 vehicles.

Aidi said 15,879 vehicles were inspected on Monday. This brings the tally of cumulative vehicles inspected to 46,124.

“We have also received 1,194 travel permit applications yesterday (May 31). Of the figure, 976 have been approved and the rest were rejected,” he said.
