A total of 156 applications for chicken and egg production subsidies have been processed in Sarawak to date for a total claim of RM6.2 million, said Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

The Agriculture Modernisation and Regional Development Minister said the federal government has extended the subsidy from February to June 2022.

“The total amount approved for the subsidy is RM528 million for the whole country,” he said when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the DUN sitting on today.

According to him, the subsidy is also meant to reduce the farmers’ burden due to the high cost of feed.

Aside from that, he said a total of RM100 million was allocated to Sarawak Agro Fund, formerly known as Sarawak Venture Capital through Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB).

“Since its inception, Sarawak Agro Fund has received a very positive
response from the agro-industry players.

“To date, RM53.2 million has been approved of which RM10.09 million was in the form of grants and RM43.13 million was for loans to 30 agropreneurs and industry players.
