KUCHING: Sarawakians have been urged to continue to uphold unity and peace in the state.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the state is able to live in harmony despite its multi-racial and religious society.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone, especially Christians, a Merry Christmas.

He said this to reporters after attending Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas’ Christmas open house at his residence here, today (Dec 25).

Meanwhile, Uggah said that he was glad to see that the state is able to celebrate Christmas in unity and prosperity.

“We have been given God’s blessing to celebrate Christmas, and this is also the time we foster closer ties with each other of different races and religions,” he said.

Earlier, Abang Johari and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, arrived at Uggah’s residence at around 11.12am and spent about two hours there.
