KUCHING: The community is encouraged to participate actively in programmes that sustain cultural practices and traditions.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, said that community support in participating in events held prior to celebrations can foster a sense of unity, particularly among the younger generation.

Speaking at the Pre-Gawai Dinner event organised by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Pampang Siol Kandis at SDNU Siol Kandis Hall on Saturday, she highlighted the importance of preserving cultural and traditional practices to pass them on to future generations.

“No matter how modern we are, let’s not forget our cultural and traditional practices, whether it be activities or celebration events like this pre-Gawai dinner,” she said.

She made these remarks in a speech delivered by Treasurer for N7 Samariang Fadzillah Ahmadi.

The event was attended by about 300 guests and visitors including SIDS members and invited guests.
