KUCHING: Sarawakians must continue to play their part and understand that Sarawak is not exempted from the second wave of Covid-19, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
As such everyone plays a part in preventing infection by the virus, he stressed.
“I beg every Sarawakian to understand that Sarawakians are not exempted from this second wave.
“As we can see from other countries in the world after reopening of their business sector, there are spikes in cases,” he said in a Facebook post.
He said those regions that do not have any increase in cases have to learn from them.
“Nonetheless, it shows that everyone is doing his or her part and plays one’s role (in curbing the virus spread). Be responsible and cooperative,” he said.
Dr Sim said there would be temporary inconvenience in the new norm, but most importantly the people must not take the safety standard operating procedure (SOP) guidelines lightly.
Sarawak has recorded zero case for three consecutive days since Aug 1.
“Because of your efforts, Sarawak has zero case… And we must continue to do polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing on high risk group and aggressive contact tracing,” he said.
