KUCHING: Celebration of the various festivals in a multicultural and multiracial society contributes to the creation of cultural harmony.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion said festivals serve as a platform for the people to meet, sit, eat, and mingle with each other thus enhancing the understanding, respect, tolerance, and acceptance for each other.

“Besides that, celebration of festivals also teaches us to forget our enmity and embrace one another in a bond of love mixed with entertainment.

“This is what we want to achieve and the Sarawak Family that we build,” he said this in his speech during the Majlis Raya-Gawai 2022 Jabatan Premier Sarawak at Atrium, State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building yesterday.

Describing celebration of festivals through holding of open houses or a joint celebration like the event to build social relations and communications, he said it is one of the ways to work together to achieve the desirable results in the state civil service.

“I hope the state civil servants are committed to continue working together as a strong, united, efficient, and proactive team in achieving the mission and vision of the state government in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said.
Quoting Henry Ford ‘coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success’, he said it is important for all civil servants to put aside selfishness as well as to always be humble and serve without arrogance.
