SIBU: The public is invited to participate in a dog vaccination programme and an anti-rabies health forum at Ching Ang Methodist Church in Sungai Sadit here today (Sept 23).

The programme is organised by the United Chinese Association (UCA) Sibu Division in collaboration with the Sibu Division Health Office (DHO) and the Sibu Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).

UCA president Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming said that the free vaccination programme would take place from 8.30 am to 2 pm in the church compound.

“We are committed to organising this event to protect public health and the well-being of their dogs, aiming to prevent fatal infections and educate the community,” he said in a press conference recently.

Lau stressed the importance of taking this life-threatening situation seriously and ensuring that dogs are vaccinated.

“In case of bites or scratches from their pets, immediate medical treatment should be sought,” he added.

Simultaneously with the programme, he said that they will also offer health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.

“For those interested in screening, fasting after dinner is recommended. Additionally, we will assist with applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card for senior citizens during the programme,” he said.
