KUCHING: Digitalisation under the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) throughout the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency is being actively implemented.

JENDELA is a government initiative for the provision of a comprehensive digital infrastructure by providing regular, mobile and quality internet services.

According to Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Willie Mongin, a total of 30 telecommunications towers have been approved by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency under JENDELA (National Digital Interconnection Programme).

Willie, who is the Member of Parliament for Puncak Borneo said, apart from that, 27 towers of the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) have also been approved in the parliamentary constituency, of which 15 have already been built and two more are in the process of determining the location.

He said the towers that have been approved for construction by KKMM are in Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS), Kampung Bawang, Kampung Begu, Kampung Blimbin Krokong, Kampung Gumbang, Kampung Maang, Kampung Padang Pan, Kampung Panchor, Kampung Pedaun Bawah, Kampung Plaman Nyabet, Kampung Rayang, Kampung Sikog, Kampung Simpok, Kampung Tanah Puteh and at Puncak Borneo.

In addition to the JENDELA programme, Willie said the government also implemented the Point of Presence (PoP) Project to provide fibre optic connectivity to schools and industrial areas.

He recently attended the programme coordination meeting with the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Sarawak and Telekom Malaysia Sarawak at his service centre in Bratan, Jalan Borneo Heights.

During the meeting Willie was briefed on the latest status of the two projects in the constituency.

According to Willie, the JENDELA towers in Teng Bukap, Sungai Pinang, Plaman Baki and Kampung Podam are currently at the land acquisition stage which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2023 while the towers in Kampung Bunga, Tarat Melawi and Bisira Rayang are currently under construction and are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

“A total of 23 towers are still in the process of acquiring suitable land, namely in Kampung Biya Parang, Kiding, Sapit, Karu, Bunuk, Sitang, Pulau Kandis, Annah Rais, Tijirak, Annah Sibuang, Danu, Giam Baru, Abang, Biya Kamas, Plaman Payang, Patung and Gayu,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the Phase 1 PoP project involving schools, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Siniawan, Bau is still being implemented, while in SK Rayang Serian the project has already been completed.

He added that for phase two the tender process is underway involving SK Puak, SK Simpang Kuda, SK Serumbu, SK Gumbang, SK Segubang, SK Tringgus, SK Pedaun Bawah, SK Plaman Sigandar, SK Siburan Batu, SK Plaman Sidunuk, SK Sitang Petag, SK Kambug, SK Pengkalan Ampat, SK Taba Sait, SK Tanah Puteh, SK St Patrick Semadang, SK Emperoh Jambu, SK St Francis Xavier Seratau, SK St Peter, SK Subang, SK Sira/Krian, SK Pesang Begu, SK St Philip, SK St Augustine, SK St George, SK St Patrick Blimbin, SK St Edward Belimbing, SK St Gile, SK St Swithun, SJKC Chung Hua Baru 32, SMK Paku, SMK Padawan and SMK Tun Abdul Razak.

“The digitalisation project throughout the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency with the installation of a fiber optic network is also being actively implemented to ensure the people do not miss the digital economy programme,” he said.

Willie added, several locations in the state constituency of Serumbu which is within the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency that already have Port Unifi are in Taman Blossom, Taman Siniawan Villa, Kampung Tanjung Durian, Kampung Peninjau Baru and Lama, Kampung Siniawan and Pekan Siniawan, Taman Senggi, Zhang Agri Park and Kampung Merembeh, while Kampung Jalan Bong Mo, Kampung Sega, Jalan Tanjung Durian, Kampung Kopit, Kampung Siniawan Seberang, Kampung Kandis Lama, SK Siniawan and Kampung Kandis are expected to be completed this year.

He said in Mambong they are at Jalan Borneo Heights, Sarawak Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS), Kampung Sinar Baru, Kampung Karu, Jalan Kampung Mambong, CMS Cement Industries, Taman Sentah Avenue, Kampung Siburan, Eastcom Commercial Centre, Kampung Seratau, Taman Sinaran Heights, Kampung Gunda, Taman Duranda Emas, Taman Impiana, Taman Segu, Batu Gong area, Kampung Sg. Duuh, Wassion Avenue, Kampung Sinjok, Bandar Baru Siburan, Kampung Duras, Kampung Endap, Kampung Sinaran Jaya, Siburan Fire Station, Eastern Mall, Kampung Sinar Baru, Puncak Borneo Prison, Public Works Department and SK Taba Sait.

As for Kampung Batu Gong Phase 2, PPR Batu Gong, Wassion Avenue Commercial Centre, the road that connects Kampung Mambong – Kampung Simboh – Kampung Sikog – Kampung Sarig, Kampung Petag, Kampung Bratan Bunuk, Kampung Rabak Asah, Bawang Heights Housing, Kampung Bawang, Kampung Punau, Kampung Segu Bunuk, Kampung Sumur Bunuk, Kampung Giam, Kampung Semadang, Kampung Garung, Duranda Emas Commercial Centre, Siburan Commercial Centre, Sentah View Commercial Center is expected to be completed this year.

In Tarat it includes Taman Anggerik Indah, Kampung Rayang, Jalan Ensengei, Pekan Baru Baki, Pekan Tarat, Kampung Rituh Mawang, Kampung Rituh Baru, Kampung Tapah, Kampung Beratok and Kampung Sinjok, while in Kampung Tapah, 101 Tarat Residential & Commercial, Taman Tarat Mas Residential & Commercial Centre, Tarat Heights Housing, Baki Ville & Housing, Kampung Munggu Lalang, Jalan Kampung Taee, Tapah Jaya 2, Tapah Central Phase 2, Tapah Central Housing, Southland Commercial Shophouses – Shell Station, Kampung Siga and Kampung Sinjok expected to be ready this year.
