DARO: A one-metre-long reticulated python caused a stir in Kampung Baru when it was discovered in a bird cage here, today.

Civil Defence Force (APM) Daro district officer Lt Ra’idah Jomi said they received an emergency call on the sighting of the reptile around 9.30 am.

Responding swiftly, three APM members were deployed to the residence.

When they arrive at the house, the personnel found the python tightly coiled in a corner of the bird cage, alongside two birds – one of which is believed to be lifeless.

Ra’idah said it did not take long for the team to act and by 9.45am the reptile was captured.

The reticulated python was later released to its original habitat away from the village.
