KUCHING: A woman almost lost her rented house at Jalan Senadin in Miri to fire and was lucky to escape with only a blackened kitchen last Sunday evening.

Quick action by firefighters from Lopeng fire station saved the day as the fire in the kitchen was speedily put out before it could spread to other sections of the house.

A team of six personnel, led by Senior Fire Officer II Rorudi, in a fire engine and an EMRS vehicle rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 6.25pm. It took them about three minutes to douse the flames.

About 10 per cent of the house was damaged and no injuries were reported.

The fire was believed to have originated from a stove.
