DARO: Unity between races is the key to prosperity that needs to be experienced by a pluralistic society, said Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
“The multiracial society in Sarawak makes this state one of the best in nurturing unity. We must maintain unity like this to make Sarawak an example to other states.
“Tonight, we can see the presence of various communities in Daro and not only the Chinese community who come to celebrate the Angpow Festival even though the festival is observed by the Chinese community,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Angpow Festival 2023 organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Kg. China and Pasar Daro in collaboration with the Sekolah Kebangsaanl (SK) Camporan Daro at the Daro Community Hall, recently.
At the same time, Safiee also stated that Daro will transform in the next five years.
“This is due to various high impact developments that are being implemented such as the Muara Lassa Bridge.
“While the projects that will be implemented and have been approved are Daro Farmers’ Market, Daro Digital Resource Centre, Daro Waterfront, new shop buildings and so on,” he added.
Safiee together with Igan Member of Parliament Ahmad Johnie Zawawi also officiated at the ceremony to present angpow or red packets to representatives of the elderly, Kie Ming Kindergarten, SK Camporan and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Normah.
The event was also livened with various dance performances, lucky ticket draws and fireworks displays.
