KUCHING: A Brooke era Malay dwelling was launched as part of the state’s village heritage trail here on Monday.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah graced the launching of Rumah Warisan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abang Ahmad Urai.

Deputy State Secretary (operations) cum chairman of Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe) Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit said the Village Heritage Trail consisted of Malay villages steeped in history.

“These villages existed in the Brooke era and there are among heritage sites that can be seen up to this day.

“One of them is Rumah Warisan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abang Ahmad Urai, located at Jalan Muda Hashim, here,” she said.

Sabariah explained that Rumah Warisan was proposed to be a heritage site attraction at Kampung Nombor for those who wish to see Sarawak Malay heritage and culture up close because Kampung Nombor is one of the most well known villages in the city.
