KUCHING: In its efforts to widen access to education particularly for Sarawakians, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) took the first step in offering its programme in the form of a franchise by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Regal City College (RCC) Kuching.

The MoA, which was signed on March 5 via a virtual event, paves the way for RCC to offer TAR UC’s Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme to its students.

During the virtual event, RCC was represented by its chief executive Michael Tiong as well as Kuching IT Sdn Bhd directors Nicholas Wong and Dr Lim Hong Chang.

TAR UC was represented by its president Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, vice presidents, and members of the Faculty of Accountancy, Finance, and Business.

As part of the collaboration, TAR UC will be providing the pedagogical concepts and know-how to RCC.

RCC will follow stringent guidelines and academic regulations provided by TAR UC in the provision of the TAR UC Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme to ensure that it is equivalent and comparable to the on-campus studies at TAR UC.

The materials utilised in the programme at RCC will be in accordance with the guidelines given by TAR UC and a qualified team will handle and deliver the programme.

RCC will also seek to obtain approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for the conduct of the programme at RCC.

All of this will ensure the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme delivered at RCC achieves the highest quality assurance.

This collaboration will not only provide an opportunity for Sarawakians to pursue TAR UC qualification, but they can also do so locally without having to travel out of state.

“With the hard work put in by RCC together with my team, this is something that we really look forward to. We would like to reach out to all students particularly in the state of Sarawak so that the programme can benefit more young people,” said Lee.
