Relief centres activated to assist flood-affected individuals in Kuching, Bau

KUCHING: In response to the flooding affecting Kuching and Bau, three Flood Relief Centres (PPS) have commenced operations to provide assistance to 71 flood-affected individuals.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit report, two PPS have been established in Kuching, and one is in Bau.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Secretariat disclosed that, as of 2pm on today (Feb 16), PPS Dewan R-Piang in Kampung Sinar Budi has accommodated 29 victims from seven families since its opening at 11.15am.

Simultaneously, PPS Stapok Community Hall has provided refuge for 20 victims from eight families.

In Bau District, PPS Dewan Kampung Segong began operations at 11.30am, offering shelter to six victims from two families.

The SDMC Secretariat also reported the relocation of five families, comprising storm-affected individuals, to PPS Balai Raya Kampung Assakirin in Bintulu.
