TEBEDU: Local assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada is committed to developing essential facilities for the local folk, emphasising the improvement of rural socio-economic conditions.

He thanked the Parti Gabungan Sarawak (GPS) government, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, for continuing the allocation of RM5 million annually for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) in each state constituency.

As such, Dr Simon said that he was actively working to build basic facilities for the local population, such as constructing and upgrading agricultural roads, which was a primary focus in improving the socio-economic status of rural residents.

“It is hoped that the completion of agricultural roads in these seven villages will provide convenience to the residents of Kampung (Kpg) Daha Mawang, Kpg Bidak Plaman, Kpg Payau Burus, Kpg Payau Achau, Mawang Tahup/Gahat Mawang, Kpg Plaman Nyabet and Kpg Jenan.

“This is the government’s aspiration to provide facilities for the people to be more productive and advance in agriculture,” he said during a symbolic handover ceremony of a project site for Tebedu RTP project on Wednesday (Dec 13).

Apart from agricultural roads, he mentioned the need for community halls, churches, and irrigation systems to prevent flash floods in the area.

“We will consider these requests in the coming years because, in the Tebedu constituency, we have nearly 60 villages and settlements,” he added.
