KUCHING: A requiem mass was held for the late Father Noel Hanraham at St Joseph Cathedral Kuching here last night (15/7) with the Archbishop of Kuching, Reverend Simoh Poh presiding.
Also joining in the mass were Archbishops emeritus Datuk John Ha and Datuk Seri Peter Chung.
Father Noel, 90, a missionary priest, had passed away on July 11 at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin.
He had studied philosophy, theology, and obtained a doctorate in divinity and was ordained a priest on July 11 1954 at Mill Hill, London.
He was posted to Kuching as a professor of Theology at St Peter’s College and had occupied a number of other positions in the seminary over 15 years.
In January 1999, Father Noel was appointed to serve at the Our Lady of Knock Shrine in County Mayo, Ireland. He retired in 2012 to St Joseph’s House in Dublin.
His body was laid to rest on July 14, at the Bohernabreena cemetery, County Dublin, Ireland.
