MUKAH: Twelve residents of Kampung Teh and Kampung Tabo here visited the natural gas facility at Kampung Pulau Melayu in Miri on Monday (Jan 30).

The delegation was led by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and was also joined by community leaders from Mukah.

Abdul Yakub said the two villages were selected under the People’s Project development that would see for the first time rural areas equipped with gas piping facilities for cooking.

He said the only difference was the source of energy used – in Miri, it is from coastal natural gas sources while in Mukah, it is from green energy sources.

“I understand from CRAUN that the physical work for this People’s Project has just started.

“Therefore, it is timely that this programme is held to give some exposure to the residents involved to see for themselves the examples found in the city of Miri.”

Also present during the visit were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, CRAUN Research chief executive officer Zaidel Hussaini and acting Mukah District officer Peleadzman Ahip.
