SERIAN: Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem showered praise on the extraordinary talents showcased during Talent Night ‘Ratu Bilanting,’ which featured a diverse range of local talents and skills.
He commended the high standard of performances, stating that the show had revealed talents that truly exemplified the rich cultural diversity of Sarawak.
“I am truly amazed by the talents of the young people of Serian. The standard is exceptionally high.
“I must admit, I didn’t expect to witness such talent among the youth of Sarawak, including within the parliamentary constituency of Serian.
“For example, in singing performances, we (Sarawak) have gained quite a reputation,” he said.
He was speaking during the event hosted at Pasar Tebakang Cina last night (Sept 8).
The talent night was the pinnacle of the ‘Ratu Bilanting’ beauty pageant, offering a platform for ten finalists to showcase their unique abilities and skills, each vying for the coveted title of ‘Ratu Bilanting’.
The grand finale, when ‘Ratu Bilanting’ would be crowned on Saturday evening (Sept 9), was eagerly anticipated and promised to be a fitting conclusion to this remarkable event.
For the record, the beauty pageant is a key highlight of the annual Serian Rafting Challenge Festival.
The Serian Rafting Challenge Festival 2023, a collaborative effort between the Serian District Council and the Serian Parliamentary Service Centre, received significant support from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, which contributed a generous RM118,000 to ensure the event’s success.
This festival holds a prominent place in Sarawak’s tourism calendar, attracting visitors and celebrating the rich culture of the region.
