KUCHING: The upgrading and repair of the Kampung Stampin Iban Baru community hall is expected to be completed on Jan 15 next year.

The project amounting to RM100,000 under the allocation of the Kota Sentosa’s Rural Transformation peogramme (RTP) was handed over to its contractor, A.D Line Enterprise.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the upgrading works will be done upon the request of the villagers, adding that the condition of their community hall was not satisfactory to serve the needs of the residents.

“Good condition of village halls is very important for the unity of local communities because villagers use it as a community centre to organise important and meaningful activities and cultural programmes.

“I remind the contractors to work closely with Penghulu Jakup Buan and the Public Works Department (PWD) to sort out any problems so that the works can be completed within the 20 weeks earmarked for the project,” he said, adding that the scope of works for the contract is for the construction of toilets, kitchen and store.

Yap also expressed his hope that the Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen would play his role to assist in getting federal funding to resolve the various unsatisfactory infrastructure problems in Kota Sentosa.
