KUCHING: Kuching City Football Club has obtained a RM1 million sponsorship from Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Berhad following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exchange between the two parties yesterday.

This was announced by Kuching City chairman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman in a MOU signing and cheque presentation ceremony at the Baitulmakmur Building.

“We are excited to welcome Press Metal as a partner for Kuching City and we look forward to opportunities of collaboration in all aspects.

“As we look to improve the footballing aspect of the club on the pitch, the club’s management aspect off the pitch is also being improved with sponsorship deals such as this,” he said.

Fazzrudin thanked Press Metal for the sponsorship and collaboration, describing it as a prime example where private companies can help develop football in Sarawak.

The MOU between Kuching City Football Club and Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Berhad will see the Press Metal logo being featured on the shirt of the home and away kit of Kuching City for the remainder of the 2023 season and an option to support KCFC in 2024 season.

The deal also includes advertising boards as well as the Press Metal logo being featured in Kuching City media channels moving forward.

In a similar development, Fazzrudin hopes through initiatives such as these, Kuching City would one day be able to establish its own football training center which stresses on both education and football.

He added that by having Kuching City’s very own training center would allow the local football academies to run it on weekdays with participation from youths and providing opportunities for local communities to play football.

Meanwhile, Press Metal chief operating officer (COO) Choa Wei Keong said the collaboration with Kuching City is part of the company’s approach to participate in the development of the football sport in Sarawak and Malaysia.

“The Kuching City brand is growing rapidly among the people of Sarawak and is able to capture the imagination of football fans.

“The success of the club in recent years is a source of pride for the people and for Press Metal, we are excited to be a partner of Kuching City and optimistic of the club’s growth in the near future,” he said.
